Roy Moore Refuses To Concede, Fox News’ Bret Baier Has The Perfect Response
After a humiliating defeat, former Alabama GOP Senate candidate Roy Moore on Tuesday declined to concede the race to Democrat Doug Jones, telling a crowd of supporters, “it’ not over.”
Moore made the remark shortly after Jones’ victory speech. The former judge lamented he’s been “painted in an unfavorable and unfaithful light,” before repeating a Bible verse about “waiting patiently for the lord.”
But Fox News anchor Bret Baier blasted Moore’s non-concession speech, telling host Shannon Bream, “There are other Bible versus that say, ‘It’s over.’”
“I think the numbers that we’re looking at … it doesn’t seem like it’s going to get to that half-percent,” Baier added. “Eventually, I think you’re going to see form the Moore campaign, a concession.”
Alabama law requires an automatic recount if the vote is within half a percentage point. As CNN’s Jake Tapper explained, Jones’ current leader is three times that threshold.
“The people of Alabama have spoken,” Alabama Secretary of State John Merrill, a Republican, Tapper, adding it would be “highly unlikely” for anyone but Jones to be seated as the next state senator.
Keep “waiting patiently for the lord.”
