Natalia Veselnitskaya, the Russian lawyer who met with Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort at Trump Tower during the 2016 campaign revealed that she spoke with Ivanka Trump after attending the meeting.
Veselnitskaya told NBC News that she spoke with a woman who she thought was Ms. Trump following the meeting.
The Russian lawyer was not completely sure of the identity of the woman, NBC News noted, but another source directly familiar with the Trump Tower meeting confirmed that the woman Veselnitskaya spoke to was the president’s daughter.
The report comes as special counsel Robert Mueller continues the investigation into Russia’s election meddling and any potential ties between Trump campaign staff members and Moscow.
According to a new report by The Los Angeles Times, the Special Counsel team is looking into Ms. Trump’s interaction with Veselnitskaya as they examine the Trump Tower meeting.
Donald Trump Jr. met with Veselnitskaya and a Russian man identified as Rinat Akhmetshin after an intermediary promised damaging information about Democrat Hillary Clinton.
Citing sources familiar with the probe, NBC reports that Mueller’s investigators are largely interested in why Trump helped draft a misleading statement regarding the meeting one year later.
