Sarah Sanders Admits Trump’s Trade Policies Are Causing ‘Short-Term Pain’ In The Economy – Watch:
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders admitted on Wednesday that Donald Trump’s trade policies are currently hurting the economy and is causing a “short-term pain.”
During a Wednesday press briefing at the White House, Fox News correspondent John Roberts noted that the stock markets are experiencing “wild swings” due to Trump’s decision to place tariffs on China and other countries.
“Is the president worried that this saber rattling is causing many people in this country to lose money?” Roberts wondered.
“No,” Sanders said. “The president is worried that countries have been taking advantage of us for decades and that he’s not going to allow that to happen.”
“We may have a little bit of short-term pain but we’re certainly going to have long-term success,” she added. “And we’re focused on long-term economic growth principles and making sure we have a strong and stable economy.”
