Schumer Calls On New York City To Not Pay For Trump’s Security When He Visits
Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) spoke with BuzzFeed on Saturday and said that New York City should not pay for President Trump’s security detail when he visits.
The Senator said that New York Mayor Bill de Blasio shouldn’t be responsible for funding the president’s security on his visit to the state.
“[de Blasio] ought to tell the Congress if we don’t pay for it, New York City cops aren’t guarding it, and let the Feds put more people in,” Schumer said. “That’s what I think he should do.”
First Lady Melania Trump and son Barron still reside in New York, using taxpayer money so Barron can finish up the school year there. The two are set to move into the White House this summer.
