Second Republican Congressman Self-Quarantine For Coronavirus After CPAC Contact
A second Republican congressman announced on Sunday that he and his staff came in contact with the attendee at CPAC that has now been diagnosed with the coronavirus.
In a statement on Twitter, Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) said that he and three senior staffers will be on lockdown and that his office will be closed.
The announcement came hours after Sen. Ted Cruz was diagnosed with coronavirus after coming in contact with the same person.
In an attempt to keep his constituents in the dark, Gosar, who is a dentist, refused to refer to the illness as coronavirus or COVID-19, referring to it instead as the “Wuhan Virus.”
1. I am announcing that I, along with 3 of my senior staff, are officially under self-quarantine after sustained contact at CPAC with a person who has since been hospitalized with the Wuhan Virus. My office will be closed for the week.
