Donald Trump chose Rex Tillerson, former CEO of ExxonMobil, to be his Secretary of State. Little did anyone know Tillerson didn’t want the job to begin with.
“I didn’t want this job. I didn’t seek this job,” Tillerson told the Independent Journal Review in an interview during his recent Asia trip.
Then why take the job that you’re not qualified for and don’t even want?
Tillers said that his wife “told me I’m supposed to do this.”
He explained during the interview that him and Trump never met prior to the election. He stated that after the victory, him and Trump talked “about the world.”
“When he asked me at the end of that conversation to be secretary of State, I was stunned,” Tillerson said.
He didn’t accept the offer then, but consulted his wife about it first.
“I told you God’s not through with you,” he said his wife told him.
His plan was to retire come March, but he decided to take the offer anyways.
“I was supposed to retire in March, this month. I was going to go to the ranch to be with my grandkids,” he said
Tillerson was confirmed as secretary of State in February, despite a late effort by Democrats to slow down the nomination.
