Another Top Official Just Got Fired After Revealing WH Lied About Tillerson’s Firing
The Trump White House continues to crumble as another top aide at the State Department was fired after he contradicted the administration’s account of Trump’s firing of Secretary of State Rex Tillerson.
The officer, Under Secretary of State Steve Goldstein, was fired after he released a statement, in which he said Tillerson did not speak with Trump before his firing and is “unaware” of the reason behind his dismissal, the Associated Press reported citing officials.
Goldstein’s statement strongly suggested that Tillerson found out about his firing from Twitter — contradicting the White House accounts of the decision.
Goldstein also said that Tillerson had “every intention of staying” before his firing.
White House officials said that Tillerson was told he would be removed on Friday, and NBC News tweeted that White House chief of staff John Kelly delivered the news to him on Friday. The Associated Press also reported that Kelly had told Tillerson that there might be a presidential tweet that would concern him.
It turns out, the White House lied, according to Goldstein.
