Stormy Daniels Was Threatened Over Affair Claims, Attorney Says. Could End Trump’s Presidency If True
The attorney representing the adult film actress Stormy Daniels has revealed that she was threatened with physical harm in connection to her alleged affair with Donald Trump.
Asked on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” whether Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, had ever been threatened with physical harm, lawyer Michael Avenatti, replied: “Yes.”
Avenatti declined to say whether the threat came from Trump or one of his associates, but he said the threat would be discussed in an interview on CBS News with Anderson Cooper.
“I can’t tell you anything beyond what I’ve already said,” Avenatti said.
He refused to confirm or deny whether the threat came from the president, and he refused to say whether the threat involved someone pointing a gun at Daniels.
“I’m not at liberty to discuss it,” Avenatti said. “You can ask it 17 different ways, I’ll give you the same answer. I applaud your tenaciousness.”
Later in the broadcast, MSNBC commentator Donny Deutsch warned of the consequences on the Trump presidency if Daniels confirms that she was threatened with physical harm.
“Is it fair to say, legal aside, if Stormy Daniels comes out and says that she was…physically threatened harm by either the president himself or somebody very close, that, and it seems to be credible, that, in and of itself would bring down this presidency, with what is going on in the world right now,” Deutsch said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
Deutsch said the revelation was “nothing short of stunning.”

Daniels is suing to void a nondisclosure agreement that she says prevents her from speaking out about her alleged affair with the president more than a decade ago.
She was paid $130,000 by Trump’s personal attorney Michael Cohen weeks before the 2016 presidential election. She says the payment was intended to buy her silence about the alleged affair.
Cohen has acknowledged making the payment to Daniels but insisted the funds came from a personal account and were not tied to the Trump campaign.
The White House has denied Trump ever had an affair with Daniels.
