Struggling To Make Ends Meet, Roy Moore Begs Few Remaining Supporters For Donations
Disgraced former Judge Roy Moore is begging his few remaining supporters to please send donations, saying that he is financially strapped and struggling to pay his legal bills, AL.com reports.
According to news outlet , the former Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court, who suffered a stunning defeat by losing a U.S. Senate special election to Democrat Doug Jones last December, is now filling his days dealing with the fallout from revelations that he allegedly sexually assaulted teens when he was a 30-year-old district attorney years ago.
Moore is currently facing a defamation lawsuit filed by Leigh Corfman, one of the women who said he had sexual contact with her when she was a teen,
The former Republican candidate has been attempting to raise money for his defense, but he is finding out that he is yesterday’s news now that the election is over and his followers — along with their wallets — have disappeared.
Moore has only raised $32,235 of the $250,000 he feels he needs to pay his legal bills, according to the report.
Writing on Facebook Moore lashed out at the “liberal media” and blamed gays for his legal troubles:
“I have lawyers who want to help but they are not without cost and besides their fees, legal expenses could run over $100,000. The liberal media, in association with some who want to destroy our country, do not want my influence in the 2018 elections and are doing everything they can to stop me.
Gays, lesbians, and transgenders have joined forces with those who believe in abortion, sodomy, and destruction of all that we hold dear. Unless we stand together we will lose our country,” he added as an inducement to get help paying his bills.”
“I’m sure that you cannot imagine how this has taken a toll on my wife, my children, and even my friends. My resources have been depleted and I have struggled to make ends meet, but I have not lost my faith in our God, who is our true source of strength and will never leave or forsake us.”
