Susan Collins And ‘Small Group’ Of GOP Sens. Make Push To Allow Witnesses To Testify At Impeachment Trial

Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME) spoke with reporters on Friday and said that she, along with a “fairly small group” of Republican senators, are working on a plan to allow witnesses to testify in the Senate impeachment trial of Donald Trump, despite Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) not wanting witnesses.

“I am hopeful that we can reach an agreement on how to proceed with the trial that will allow the opportunity for both the House and the president’s counsel if they choose to do so,” she said, according to the Bangor Daily News.

McConnell co-signed a resolution on Friday attempting to drop all impeachment articles against Trump.
