Rep. Ted Lieu Burns Trump By Pointing At His Ancestors After President Calls For Merit-Base Immigration
Responding to a tweet by President Donald Trump, in which he denigrated amnesty-seeking immigrants as “these people” and said he wanted a merit-based system of admitting possible new U.S. citizens, Democratic Congressman Ted Lieu (Calif.) shut down the president’s racist call by reminding him of his own ancestors’ humble beginnings.
“We cannot allow all of these people to invade our Country. When somebody comes in, we must immediately, with no Judges or Court Cases, bring them back from where they came,” Trump wrote on Twitter. “Our system is a mockery to good immigration policy and Law and Order. Most children come without parents,” before adding, “Immigration must be based on merit – we need people who will help to Make America Great Again!”
Well, as Lieu points out, there was little Trump’s ancestors had to offer when they came over on the boat — and he reminded Trump on Twitter.
“Dear @realDonaldTrump: I will support merit based immigration based on the same standards that allowed your grandfather, who started off poor & as a barber, to immigrate to America as an unaccompanied minor,” he tweeted before adding a puckish, “#SundayMorning Thoughts.”
