On Tuesday, the Internet turned Attorney General Jeff Sessions’s referencing “the Jewish AIPAC event” into a meme.
During his Testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee about the panel’s probe into Russian election interference, Sessions mentioned being excited to attend a President Trump speech because the only time he’d heard him speak prior to that was “at the Jewish AIPAC event.”
Sessions was referencing the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference, an annual event held by one of the U.S.’s leading pro-Israel groups. Trump spoke at the 2016 conference.
It didn’t take long for Twitter users to seized on Sessions’s turn of phrase.
