Donald Trump’s appearance seems to sell when it comes to his fans. And this past Friday that was just the case. Local Florida Republican Party officials used the president’s Florida resort to squeeze out money out of his supporters.
On Friday, guests gathered around a fundraising event for the Republican party while wearing their violent red “Make America Great Again” hats. They all dined in on filet mignon and scallops – talk about “high society.”
Florida Gov. Rick Scott (R) spoke at the event, where he told a story about having a private viewing of “La La Land” in the White House movie theater with the president.
Another Republican at the event, Michael Barnett, who is the county’s GOP chairman, rented out the ballroom at Mar-A-Lago for $150,000. Around 700 people showed up to the event, each paying a $300 entrance fee.
Seems like the Republican party knows how to make a few bucks out of Trump. And since the event took place at the Mar-A-Lago resort, that means more money in Trump’s pockets. If that doesn’t scream out “conflict of interest” I’m not sure what does.
