The Trump Campaign Inadvertently Throws Him Under The Bus By Exposing His Latest Lie
President Trump on Sunday managed to embarrass himself and the nation after going on a wild rant against the news media for reporting his own words. But there’s a problem: His own campaign inadvertently confirmed the news reports.
In a tweet early Sunday, Trump pushed back on media reports that he called Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, “nasty,” and called on the major news outlets to retract the story and apologize.
“I never called Meghan Markle ‘nasty,'” he said.
“Made up by the Fake News Media, and they got caught cold!” he added.
“Will @CNN, @nytimes and others apologize? Doubt it!”
However, according to audio posted to Twitter by the Official Trump War Room — taken from his interview with the Sun where he was asked about the Duchess of Sussex — he did.
During the interview, Trump said he was not aware that Markle had called him “divisive” and “misogynistic” during his 2016 presidential campaign.
“I didn’t know that. What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty,” he told The Sun ahead of his state visit to the United Kingdom.
“I didn’t know that she was nasty,” he added.
