The Trump Team Went Behind Obama’s Back To Contact Russia

It’s recently been reported that there has been frequent contacts between Donald Trump’s leading National Security Advisor, Michael Flynn, and Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.

The reports state that the contacts were made a day after President Obama expelled 35 Russian diplomats and imposed sanctions as punishment for election-related hacking.

It’s unknown what was said during the conversation, but given the relationship the Trump team has with Russia it wouldn’t be a surprise if Flynn was reassuring them that the sanctions would be repealed as soon as Trump takes over the White House.

It’s also clear at this point that Republicans are still in denial of what U.S. intelligence has discovered about Russia.

What Flynn did by going behind everyone’s back to contact a Russian Ambassador is a violation of the Logan Act, which states that “without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.”

The relationship between Russia and the Trump administration is a danger to America. And Russia having crucial information on Trump is a threat to the lives of the American people.
