Government scientists and police departments are not the only government agencies sending out defiant tweets intended to annoy thin-skinned President Donald Trump.
The Pentagon seems to have joined the anti-Trump bandwagon as well. On the same day that Trump announced a visa ban for refugees from Muslim-majority nations, the United States Department of Defense tweeted out an inspiring story about a refugee from Iraq who is now serving in the United States Marine Corps.
“From refugee to #Marine. USMC Cpl Ali J. Mohammed takes the fight to the doorstep of those who cast his family out,” the pentagon wrote.
As Raw Story writes, the Marines’ official homepage explains how Mohammed and his family came to the United States after being targeted by Iraqi insurgents for their role in helping the U.S. government during the Iraq War.
According to the site, Mohammed joined the Marines in 2014, and is now serving in Iraq as “a translator with a Special Operation Team that supports Iraqi forces as they fight to oust ISIS from their country.”
The DoD has not commented on the issue. But the timing of the tweet sent by the agency’s social media manager has set the internet abuzz and is sure to infuriate Trump.
