Donald Trump makes up some crazy lies, but the worst thing about it all is that his supporters actually believe him.
In a recent poll, it showed that almost three-fourths of Republicans still believe Trump’s accusations that former President Obama wiretapped Trump Tower prior to the election last year.
The CBS News poll that was released on Wednesday, shows that 74% of Republicans who participated said it is “very” or “somewhat” likely that those claims on Obama were true. While only 24% of them said it is “not very likely” or “not at all likely.”
The scary part about all this is that his supporters will still believe him even when US intelligence proves him wrong.
Trump first made the claims last month on Twitter, which drew a lot of attention.
His claims were already proven wrong by multiple people, and last week FBI Director James Comey said the Department of Justice has “no information” validating Trump’s accusation.
But, despite all the evidence that proves Trump’s claims were false, Trump has stood by the allegations and his supporters back him up on it.
CBS News conducted its poll of 1,088 adults nationwide, including 270 Republicans, via cellphone and landline telephone interviews from March 25 to 28. It has a 4 percentage point margin of error.
