SurveyUSA released a poll on Monday which shows Democrats Jon Ossoff ahead by 7 points over Republican candidate Karen Handel in the race for Georgia’s 6th District House seat.
51% of survey takers said they would vote for Ossoff if the elections were held today, compared to only 44% who would vote for Handel. Six percent of survey takers said they were undecided.
As Donald Trump scandals continue to arise Republicans are losing their chances of keeping control of the house after the 2018 mid-term elections.
Trump had trouble winning over Georgia in the 2016 presidential election, winning the state by only 1.5 percent. Georgia residents typically vote Republican.
The Georgia seat, which was formerly held by Tom Price (R-Ga.), who is now Trump’s Health Department secretary, is up for grabs and it’s leaning towards the Democratic side.
SurveyUSA conducted its latest survey of 549 likely and actual voters in Georgia via cell and landline telephone interviews from May 16-22. It has a 4.3 percent margin of error.
