Three People Taken To Hospital After Opening ‘Suspicious’ Letter Addressed To Trump Jr: Report
Three people, including President Trump’s daughter-in-law, Vanessa, were taken to the hospital as a precaution after receiving a “suspicious” letter addressed to Donald Trump Jr., NBC News reports.
The envelope contained an unidentified white powder, law enforcement officials told the news outlet. Trump Jr’s wife opened the letter this morning at their apartment on East 54th Street in Manhattan.
While there is no sign the substance was hazardous or that anyone suffered injuries, she and two other people were decontaminated by firefighters, according to the NBC, before being sent to the hospital.
Trump Jr. is leading the Trump Organization with his younger brother, Eric. He has been a central figure in the investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 election after he met with a Russian lawyer who promised damaging information on Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.
The Secret Service is investigating the incident, according to the report.
