It’s not a secret that Donald Trump’s horrendous presidency and his hateful rhetoric and despicable behavior played a big role in the recent acts of domestic terrorism that struck the nation Saturday afternoon.
While Republican Congress cowardly refuses to act and protect the country from the hateful Trump administration, the case for impeachment is becoming more evident.
So today, House Intelligence Committee member Congresswoman Jackie Speier (D-CA) began making the case to supersede impeachment and have President Trump removed from office under the 25th Amendment to the Constitution.

The 25th Amendment, which was ratified after the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, details the procedure for non-electoral succession and removing a president from office if two-thirds of Congress and the Vice President deem the Commander-in-Chief “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office.”
Once invoked, the 25th Amendment allows Congress 21 days to resolve the matter.
The 25th Amendment has never been used or seriously called for in its half century in the Constitution, and this shows how strong Democrats’ concern over Trump’s mental capacity truly is. And while the challenges to removing Trump under the 25th Amendment are great, the significance of a respected member of Congress calling for his removal for a lack of fitness is not to be understated.
After the display put on by Trump in recent weeks, it’s hard to make a rational case against Speier’s argument. So every day that this Republican Congress allows him to remain in power is another day that they are complicit in his crimes.
