Republicans Knew Trump Was Getting Help From Putin, Laughed It Off And Vowed To Keep It A Secret: Report
A shocking report revealed that top Republican leaders, including Paul Ryan and Kevin McCarthy, knew that Donald Trump was receiving illegal assistant from the Russian government to help his election. They held a secret meeting to discuss the matter where they laughed about it and swore to keep it a secret.
According to The Washington Post, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy held a meeting a month before Trump clinched the Republican primary on Capitol Hill with his fellow GOP leaders where he admitted that Trump could be the beneficiary of payments from Russian President Vladimir Putin.
During the meeting, McCarthy brought up the conversation about Russian’s hacking the DNC and how they tried to help Trump and Rohrabacher.
“I’ll guarantee you that’s what it is. . . . The Russians hacked the DNC and got the opp [opposition] research that they had on Trump,” McCarthy said with a laugh.
Ryan then asked who the Russians “delivered” the opposition research to.
“There’s . . . there’s two people I think Putin pays: Rohrabacher and Trump,” McCarthy said, drawing some laughter. “Swear to God,” McCarthy added.
Then Ryan said that he wanted the conversation to be kept off the record.
“This is an off the record,” Ryan said.
Some lawmakers laughed at that.
“No leaks, all right?,” Ryan said, adding: “This is how we know we’re a real family here.”
“That’s how you know that we’re tight,” Scalise said.
“What’s said in the family stays in the family,” Ryan added.
