Donald Trump’s nominee for ambassador to Barbados and other Caribbean nations reportedly funded thousands of dollars to a gala held at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago just two weeks after being nominated.
According to The Washington Post, Leandro Rizzuto Jr. and his wife committed to be “underwriters” for the gala at the club set to take place next year.
The report also states that the event, Trumpettes USA gala, is intended for a group of Trump supporters who raise money for Mar-a-Lago.
According to the event’s founder, Toni Holt Kramer, both Rizzuto and his wife, Denise, pledged to support the gala at the “presidential” level, which is the highest level of support possible.
According to Kramer, the couple could pledge ““upwards of probably $15,000 or $20,000 or $25,000.”
Kramer also added that the Rizzutos first made the pledge at the time of the first Trumpettes gala on January 18, which was two weeks after Trump nominated Rizzuto.
According to CNN, Rizzuto had shared unfounded conspiracies about Trump’s opponents during his presidential run.
