Trump And Hannity Just Disrespected A Centuries-Old Military Tradition On Live TV
Donald Trump continues to attack NFL players that kneel during the national anthem prior to games. His supporters argue that it’s not a racial issue, but critics say otherwise. Now, the argument that it’s not a racial issue got a lot weaker as he and Sean Hannity disrespected that U.S. military on national TV.
Trump was speaking with his right-hand man in Fox News Hannity on Wednesday at the Air National Guard in Middletown, Pennsylvania. Mid-interview the “Retreat” anthem, a military tradition that serves to honor soldiers and veterans, started to play.
During the anthem, others stopped in their tracks to salute, stand at attention or pay their respects for the bugle, while Trump and Hannity continued speaking through it.
“What a nice sound that is,” Trump said. “Are they playing that for you or for me?”
“They’re playing that in honor of his ratings,” he said, referring to Hannity. “He’s beating everybody.”
When it plays, soldiers stop and salute, and civilians place their hands on their hearts in a patriotic act observed by the military.
Trump didn’t do any of that, but of course, he has the audacity to complain about NFL players who kneel during the anthem. Trump is a giant hypocrite.
