Trump Fires Off Tweet Bragging About His ‘Successful’ Trip To Davos, Gets Brutal Response

President Donald Trump is back in the United States after traveling to Davos, Switzerland, for the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting this week. Air Force One landed at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland on Friday night after a nine-hour flight from Zurich, the White House reported.

During his short time in Davos, Trump sought to pitch his “America first” message to the annual gathering of global elites often derided by the president and his allies.

“As president of the United States, I will always put America first, just like the leaders of other countries should put their country first also,” Trump told a crowd on the last day of the forum.

He later declared the U.S. “open for business,” and reassured conference-goers that he was committed to upholding free trade principles.

Trump also took his battle with the U.S. media on to the global stage by using his speech in Davos to accuse the press and TV critics of being “mean, vicious and purveyors of fake news.”

Members of the audience of business leaders, politicians, academics and media representatives at the World Economic Forum responded to the president’s renewed onslaught by booing him.

Trump tweeted while heading back to Washington on Friday that his speech was “well received.” He later dubbed his trip a success while speaking to reporters at the White House.

His tweet was met with a barrage of negative responses, mocking him for embarrassing America overseas. Read some highlights below:
