During an Oval Office interview Thursday, Donald Trump told Reuters that he never thought being president would be so hard. The former game show host and real-estate-mogul-turned-politician complained that being president of the United States would be a leisurely change from his old life of being on TV and playing golf, and lamented that he had round-the-clock security protection and wasn’t allowed to drive himself anywhere anymore.
“I loved my previous life. I had so many things going,” Trump told Reuters’ Stephen Adler, Jeff Mason, and Steve Holland. “This is more work than in my previous life. I thought it would be easier.”
Former Mexican president Vicente Fox couldn’t resist tweeting at President Trump from his official account, telling the businessman and reality TV host to please return to his old job and leave the White House to someone more competent.
“Being president ain’t easy, you know?” Tweeted Fox, who was President of Mexico between 2000 and 2006. “Just leave, go back to golfing. America will understand.”
A recent poll found that Trump is the least popular president in more than 70 years compared to approval ratings of previous presidents on their 100th day.
