Trump Continues Attack On LGBT Community, Plans To Undo Obama-Era Healthcare Protections For Transgender People: Report
Donald Trump is planning to undo an Obama-era rule that prevented healthcare providers and insurers from discriminating against transgender people, a new report revealed.
According to The New York Times, the rule had prohibited healthcare providers and insurers to discriminate based on race, age, color, national origin, sex or disability for health programs that received federal funds.
According to the Trump administration, they needed to end the Obama-era rule because a federal judge found some parts of it “unlawful.”
LGBTQ advocates argue otherwise and claim that Trump’s plan would erase gains made for transgender Americans and get rid of treatments that transgender people have been denied in the past.
Trump has attacked the LGBTQ community in the past and continues to do so. One of the biggest things he was criticized for was banning transgender people from serving in the U.S. military.
Another thing the Trump administration did was getting rid of guidelines for how to accommodate transgender students at schools.
