Trump Falls Flat On His Face Attempting To Diminish Whistleblower Scandal As He Attacks The Media
Donald Trump’s actions in the past 24 hours show he’s nervous about the allegations that he has been conspiring with the Ukrainian government in an attempt to help him win the 2020 election.
It was reported earlier this week that a whistleblower sounded the alarm on Trump for making “promises” to a foreign country during a phone call. On Thursday night, it was reported that the phone call was with the Ukrainian president.
On Friday, reporters asked Trump if he had read the whistleblower report.
“No I haven’t,” Trump replied.
But then he would go on to contradict himself.
“It’s – I, I just tell you it is – everybody’s read it, they laugh at it,” Trump said, making a face as if to denigrate the report.
It’s unclear who “everybody” is, but if it to have been even widely distributed Congress would need to investigate, given only the Director of National Intelligence and the IG should have access to it.
He then tried to do what he always does when he sees himself falling into trouble. He went after the media.
He went on to call it “another media disaster,” despite the intelligence community inspector general – who he appointed – calling the whistleblower complaint both “credible” and “urgent.”
