Trump Friend: The President Is Considering Firing Lead Russia Investigator Robert Mueller

Last month Donald Trump decided to fire former FBI Director James Comey, who was the lead investigator into the FBI’s probe into potential ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.

Now, according to a Trump’s longtime friend Chris Ruddy, the president is considering firing pecial counsel Robert Mueller, who is the new lead in the FBI’s investigation.

“I think he’s considering perhaps terminating the special counsel,” Ruddy told PBS’ Judy Woodruff on “PBS NewsHour.”

“I think he’s weighing that option.”

“I personally think it would be a very significant mistake,” Ruddy continued, “even though I don’t think there’s a justification … for a special counsel.”

Multiple people in Trump’s circle have expressed doubt with Muller as special counsel. Even former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich has questioned Mueller’s ability to be fair in his investigation.
