Donald Trump said during an interview with CBS that if North Korea conducts another nuclear weapons test that he “would not be happy,” adding that Chinese President Xi Jinxing would most likely feel the same way.
“I would not be happy,” Trump said in an interview for Sunday’s “Face the Nation.”
“If he does a nuclear test, I will not be happy. And I can tell you also I don’t believe that the president of China, who is a very respected man, will be happy either.”
Trump was asked if he would take military action if such weapons test took place. He responded, “I don’t know. I mean, we’ll see.”
Two days prior to Trump’s comments, Reuters held an interview with the president where he stated that a “major, major conflict” between the U.S. and North Korea was possible.
North Korea has long had nuclear ambitions and recently started a rapid pace of its missile tests. Analysts and experts believe that they are getting ready to launch their sixth nuclear test.
