Trump Gets ‘Russia Law Firm Of The Year’ To Represent Him During Press Conference
Trump held his first official press conference this morning for the first time in 167 days. And of course the subject of conflicts of interest came up.
Donald Trump allowed a law firm called Morgan, Lewis & Bockius to represent him during the press conference. They went on to explain why Trump’s decision to give control of his company to his children while not divesting himself from his holdings is somehow not a conflict of interest.
Sheri Dillion, a lawyer of the firm, talked to the people about the subject, saying that “The conflicts of interest laws simply do not apply to the president or the vice president. And they are not required to separate themselves from their financial assets. The primary conflicts of interest statute, since some have questioned this, is section 18, USC 208. It is simply inapplicable by its terms.”
Trump, although, “forgot” to tell the American people that the law firm that represented him was actually named the Russia Law Firm Of The Year last year.
“MOSCOW, May 2, 2016: Morgan Lewis has been recognized by Chambers & Partners’ 2016 Chambers Europe guide as Russia Law Firm of the Year. The prestigious honor was announced at the publication’s recent annual awards dinner in London, where firms from 24 countries were recognized.”
Although Trump is trying his best to fool people into believing he has nothing to do with Russia, getting represented by a group of lawyers that were named Russia Law Firm of the Year doesn’t help one bit.
