Trump Goes On A Racist Rant Claiming ‘Birthright Citizenships’ Are ‘Ridiculous’
Donald Trump thinks he can change the constitution with his executive powers. That was the case on Wednesday when he hinted that he would use his executive powers to end birthright citizenships.
“We’re looking at that very seriously,” Trump told reporters as he left the White House for Kentucky. “Birthright citizenship, where you have a baby on our land — walk over the border, have a baby, congratulations, the baby’s now a U.S. citizen.”
“We are looking at birthright citizenship very seriously,” he added. “It’s, frankly, ridiculous.”
This is not the first time Trump has talked about ending the practice. He proposed the idea during his presidential campaign and also last year when he said he would sign an executive order to enact the change.
Trump’s idea quickly drew backlash from lawmakers on both sides of the aisle. They cited that birthright citizenship is a right enshrined under the 14th Amendment.
Trump responded to the criticism by saying birthright citizenship would be ended “one way or another.”
Trump might say that he isn’t a racist, but it’s comments and ideas like this one that proves otherwise.
