Trump Has A Whole New Problem
Just when you thought Donald Trump’s legal problems couldn’t get any worse, they do. On Wednesday, American Media, Inc., the parent company of the National Enquirer tabloid, came forward and admitted to committing a felony campaign finance violation “in concert with” Donald Trump’s presidential campaign.
The United States Attorney’s Office for Southern District of New York released a statement on Wednesday that included AMI’s confession, which said that the company made a $150,000 hush-money payment “in order to ensure that [a] woman did not publicize damaging allegations about the candidate before the 2016 presidential election.”
SDNY is looking to get AMI to cooperate with the investigation and have chosen not to prosecute the company for the illegal campaign contributions.
The office also acknowledged that AMI had provided “substantial and important assistance” with its investigation into the illegal campaign contribution.
