Trump Just Decided To Fire Head Of The D.C. National Guard During His Inauguration
The Trump administration has just decided to remove the Commander of the Washington D.C. National Guard, Maj. Gen. Errol R. Schwartz from his post on that day of Donald Trump’s inauguration.
What is disturbing about this decision is that he will be replaced by a Trump-friendly commander. There will be huge crowds protesting against the man who has time and time again shown that he doesn’t belong as the President of the U.S.. Having a commander who wouldn’t hesitate to shoot a gun is awfully scary.
Off the top of my head, wanting to have a commander in place who you know won’t hesitate to fire on the crowd. https://t.co/HtjtUhEzhu

So far no one knows why Trump made this decision. According to TheWeek.com “Schwartz, 65, said he did not know why he was being dismissed. Unlike other states, the National Guard chief in D.C. is appointed and dismissed by the president directly. “The timing is extremely unusual,” Schwartz said, adding that he would “never plan to leave a mission in the middle of a battle.” While bizarre, the decision might not be a total surprise; the president-elect previously ordered that all of President Barack Obama’s ambassadors leave their posts by Inauguration Day.”
Whoa. The troops will lose their commander while still on the streets for the inauguration. https://t.co/T7QxXthMni

There will be over 1,350 D.C. Guardsmen with no commander. Given Trump’s increasingly repressive behavior and his willingness to inflict violence on protesters, we can safely assume the new Guard Commander will take a much harsher approach to dealing with public dissent.
