Donald Trump did not get to enjoy a “honeymoon phase” when it came to his approval ratings, they never reached over 50%. On Wednesday, two respected polls gave Trump bad news as he hit his lowest approval rating since taking office.
A new Quinnipiac University Poll shows that Trump’s approval rating fell to 33%, only one-third of the country approve of him, while a Gallup poll showed Trump at 36% approval.
Not only are Trump’s approval numbers lower than ever, but his disapproval numbers are higher than before too.
The Quinnipiac poll revealed that 61% of survey-takers disapprove of the job Trump is doing, with over 60 percent also saying he “is not honest,” “does not have good leadership skills” and “does not share their values.”
“It’s hard to pick what is the most alarming number in the troubling trail of new lows for President Donald Trump,” said Tim Malloy, assistant director of the Quinnipiac poll.
The Quinnipiac poll was conducted among 1,125 self-identified voters from July 27 to Aug. 1 nationwide and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.4 percentage points. Live interviews were conducted on both landlines and cellphones.
