Trump Just Released Another Ridiculously False Accusation Against Obama
Donald Trump seems to be on a blame-Obama streak. Trump made yet another false accusation of former President Obama in response to a Fox News segment that blamed Obama for freeing “122 vicious prisoners” from the U.S. military detention facility who went on to engage in terrorism.
Trump tweeted out on Tuesday, “122 vicious prisoners, released by the Obama Administration from Gitmo, have returned to the battlefield. Just another terrible decision!”
But again, Trump was wrong about his accusations. It was in fact former President George W. Bush who released the vast majority of the prisoners.
But, surprisingly Fox News didn’t blame Obama for releasing 122 prisoners, they only reported that a former detainee killed in a U.S. airstrike on Yemen this month was released by Obama in 2009, the Pentagon announced Monday.
Trump took that information and decided to blame Obama for another thing he did not do.
Experts including Miami Herald journalist Carol Rosenberg, who has reported on Guantanamo for years, immediately discredited the tweet, stating that it was actually Bush who released nearly all of the 122 detainees. Obama released only nine of them, according to September U.S. intelligence reports.

Obama has been wanting to close the facility since the beginning, but unfortunately could not do so.
On the other side of things, Trump has claimed that he wanted to try U.S. citizens at Guantanamo Bay, which is illegal.
