While almost a million federal employees spend their holidays without pay due to the government shutdown, Donald Trump will be spending your taxpayer money for a party at his Florida resort.
According to Rolling Stone Magazine, the Secret Service paid Grimes Events & Party Tents Inc. of Delray Beach, Florida, $54,020 for a tent rental for Mar-a-Lago, the Trump family’s vacation compound.
The tents are intended for the end of the year party at the resort. This year, tickets to the party go for $1,000.
We are paying for security for the Mar-a-Lago New Year’s Eve party during the Trump shutdown. Secret Service can continue providing essential security during a lapse of appropriations, but it’s Trump who decides that govt officials need to be at his for-profit event. Shameless! https://t.co/gGDkpL3A5X

Meanwhile, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management took to Twitter urging the federal employees to consult their personal attorneys.
Feds, here are sample letters you may use as a guide when working with your creditors during this furlough. If you need legal advice please consult with your personal attorney. https://t.co/t6h6OzALsS

tweeted advice to the furloughed employees going without pay, instructing them to consult their personal attorneys.
Trump continues to blame Democrats for the shutdown, despite himself saying during a meeting with Democratic leaders Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer that he would shut down the government if he didn’t receive the funds for his proposed border wall.
