Attorney General William Barr undermined the American people in order to protect Donald Trump by lying about what was in the Mueller report. Now, Trump is returning the favor.
A new report revealed that the president asserted executive privilege over all of special counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian interference during the 2016 presidential election.
Trump’s assertion came just before the House Judiciary Committee was about to hold a vote on holding Barr in contempt.
Despite most of the report having been released to the public, the House Judiciary Committee last month issued a subpoena to the Department of Justice demanding the release of the full report.
Since Barr did not meet the committee’s deadline, Chairman Jerry Nadler (D-NY) moved to hold Barr in contempt of Congress.
