Trump Lies Again, Secret Service Just Announced They Have No Comey Tapes
The U.S. Secret Service announce on Monday that they have no recordings of any conversations Donald Trump has had at the White House.
The Wall Street Journal filed a Freedom of Information Act request, seeking any recordings or transcripts from the White House. The law enforcement agency in response said that they have no recordings.
But they also stated that other individuals or agencies could have secret recordings of White House conversations.
The news about the tapes first came last month, when Trump said on Twitter:
“Comey better hope that there are no ‘tapes’ of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!”
Since then, Trump and the White House has dodged questions about the tapes and refused to deny or prove their existence.
“The president made clear in the Rose Garden last week that he would have an announcement shortly,” White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters on Monday.
During his testimony, former FBI Director James Comey said he hoped the tapes existed.
“Lordy, I hope there are tapes,” he said.
