Trump-Lovers Cheer After Valedictorian Read ‘Trump’ Quote, Then He Reveals It Was Actually Obama’s: Watch
Donald Trump won Kentucky in the 2016 presidential election with 62% of the vote. So when a valedictorian at a Kentucky says that his quote came from Trump himself the crowd is obviously going to cheer. But then things got interesting as it was revealed that the quote was in fact made by former President Barack Obama.
“This is the part of my speech where I share some inspirational quotes I found on Google,” Bell County High School valedictorian Ben Bowling said when starting his speech Saturday.
“‘Don’t just get involved. Fight for your seat at the table. Better yet, fight for a seat at the head of the table.’ — Donald J. Trump.”
That’s when the crowd started cheering until Bowling revealed the truth and said: “Just kidding. That was Barack Obama.”
Bowling spoke with The Louisville Courier-Journal and said the crowd quickly stopped cheering after he revealed who actually said the quote.
“The crowd erupted in applause and before they could even finish clapping I said I was kidding and the applause quickly died,” Bowling said. “I just thought it was a really good quote. Most people wouldn’t like it if I used it, so [I] thought I’d use Donald Trump’s name. It is southeastern Kentucky after all.”
