CNN panelists went off on conservative economic analyst Stephen Moore after he claimed that special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Donald Trump is part of a “payback” for Bill Clinton’s impeachment.
Appearing on AC360, Moore and former Trump campaign aide Bryan Lanza both complained that Mueller’s investigation has been going on for too long and insisted it’s all part of a payback.
After Moore suggested that there should be a “statute of limitations” on the investigation, New York City Councilwoman Christine Quinn reminded him that Democrats tried to do that exact same thing during Clinton’s impeachment proceedings.
That’s when Lanza asked, “And it’s payback time, right?”
Atlantic contributing editor Peter Bienart then fired back at Lanza.
“It’s not payback!” Bienart interjected. “The reason that people are doing this is because actually there’s been real stuff that has come out, especially on the obstruction case.”
