Instead Of Tweeting, Trump Needs To Focus On Gun Control. 100 Citizens Shot Over Independence Day Weekend
Donald Trump has spent the past week going on ridiculous Twitter rants while attacking the media instead of focusing on issues that matter, like gun control.
Over the weekend millions of Americans celebrated the country’s independence, unfortunately violence cut the celebration short for some.
According to the Chicago Tribune, 101 people were hit by gunfire over the long weekend. 14 people ended up dead due to the gun violence.
The attacks came after Trump announced on Friday that he would be sending federal reinforcements to tackle chronic violence in Chicago.
The shootings began in just 12 hours into the weekend, when 41 people were shot.
Trump has been one to promote gun violence before. He said once during his campaign: “If she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks,” Trump said referring to Hillary Clinton. “Though the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don’t know.”
Victims of the shootings ranged from 13-year-old kids to 60-year-old adults.
