A New Investigation Just Prompted After Trump Tried To Obstruct Justice Again
A new bombshell revealed on Tuesday that Donald Trump directly tried to obstruct justice by asking former acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker to hire a loyalist to oversee the investigations being conducted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York.
According to the New York Times, Trump urged Whitaker to appoint his ally Geoffrey S. Berman to oversee multiple SDNY probes that have been swirling around former “fixer” Michael Cohen and potential corruption at the president’s inaugural committee.
Whitaker did not fold to Trump’s request and told the president that it was impossible as Berman had already recused himself from overseeing those investigations.
According to the report, this lead Trump to grow angry with Whitaker.
This report contradicts what Whitaker said under oath when he denied ever being pressured by Trump to influence multiple investigations being conducted into him and his associates.
According to the Times, House Democrats are now investigating potentially pursuing perjury charges against Whitaker.
This is yet another attempt by Trump to obstruct justice.
