Donald Trump has officially pardoned former Maricopa County, Ariz., sheriff Joe Arpaio, also known as the ‘most racist sheriff in America, the White House announced on Friday night.
Trump had previously hinted at the pardon during his rally in Phoenix earlier this week, but said it wasn’t the appropriate time to do it.
Arpaio had been convicted on July 31 of criminal contempt by a federal judge after he disobeyed a federal order on stopping people he suspected were in the country illegally.
Now, thanks to Donald Trump, racists like Joe Arpaio can roam the streets and do whatever they want without consequence. At least that’s the message Trump is sending by pardoning him.
