Trump Says There Was ‘Probably’ Going To Be An Attack After Being Pressed To Explain ‘Imminent Threat’
Donald Trump’s claim that he called for the assassination of Iranian general Qassem Suleimani because of an “imminent threat” is starting to seem like a made-up excuse.
In an interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham scheduled to air on Friday night, Trump was asked to elaborate on his reason behind killing Suleimani.
Ingraham asked the president to specifically name what the slain Iranian general had targeted.
But Trump’s answer was anything but reassuring.
“We will tell you that probably it was going to be the embassy in Baghdad,” Trump said. “I can reveal that I believe it probably would’ve been four embassies.”
But it hasn’t only been Trump who has been struggling to answer that question. Ingraham also interviewed Secretary of State Mike Pompeo who also seemed to have a hard time answering.
