Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson is now being questioned by House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy (R-SC) over a purchase he made for a $31,000 dining set for his office.
In Gowdy’s request was issued “to help the [Oversight] Committee determine whether HUD adhered to the applicable spending limitations while redecorating your office.”
Carson reportedly purchased the dining set last December at the same time HUD cut funds to help the homeless. According to The Guardian, Carson is now looking at spending an additional $165,000 on a “lounge set.”
