A right-wing columnist and self-declared Trump supporter just launched a vile attack against late night TV host Jimmy Kimmel for comments the latter made about health care coverage in the U.S.
Kimmel, who hosts Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC, took to his monologue earlier this week to discuss his newborn son’s heart condition. He criticized plans to repeal Obamacare, including a provision that would allow insurance companies to discriminate against pre-existing conditions.
“Before 2014 if you were born with congenital heart disease like my son was, there was a good chance you’d never be able to get health insurance because you had a pre-existing condition…If your baby is going to die and it doesn’t have to, it shouldn’t matter how much money you make,” Kimmel said.
Kimmel’s monologue, which has being viewed by millions of Americans and shared across the internet, didn’t sit well with conservative columnist Charles Hurt who penned an op-ed for the Washington Times insulting Kimmel for even mentioning his newborn open-heart surgery.
“The dirty, self-absorbed, narcissistic exhibitionist [Kimmel] could not help himself but step into the klieg lights and start blubbering about politics,” wrote Hurt, before adding:
“Slobbering wet kiss to federal bureaucracy” in his heartfelt plea to Americans to put politics aside and find a way to insure those who can’t afford coverage.
And he was just warming up in his vicious, sardonic critique of Kimmel.
“Yes, that’s right. He just had a kid and the kid nearly died and he wants you to know that if you are not for bloated federal bureaucracy, socialized medicine, higher taxes and tons of more debt piled onto your grandchildren, then you are not a “decent person.”
Charles Hurt is a fervent supporter of Donald Trump, endorsing the current president as early as June 2015.
