Trump Told His Economic Adviser To ‘Print Money’ To Lower The Debt: ‘Just Run The Presses’

Veteran journalist Bob Woodward wrote a new book titled “Fear: Trump in the White House.” On Tuesday it was reported by CNBC that the book revealed Donald Trump told his economic adviser that lowering the national debt was simple and the solution was to “print money.”

According to chapter seven of Woodward’s book, Trump had a meeting at Trump Tower in 2016 with Goldman Sachs’ then-president and chief operating officer Gary Cohn to talk about the economy.

During the meeting, Trump suggested: “We should just go borrow a lot of money right now, hold it, and then sell it to make money.”

According to Woodward, Cohn was “astounded” that Trump did not realize that borrowing money would increase the national debt. Trump responded by saying, “What do you mean?”

“Just run the presses — print money,” Trump added.
