A new report by the New York Times revealed that Donald Trump tried to obstruct justice yet again when he asked witnesses in the Russia investigation what they said to special counsel Robert Mueller on at least two occasions.
According to the Times, Mueller is aware that these conversations occurred. Trump once told White House staffer Don McGahn to deny a New York Times report that claimed that the president asked the White House counsel to fire Mueller.
Another time Trump “asked his former chief of staff, Reince Priebus, how his interview had gone with the special counsel’s investigators and whether they had been ‘nice,’” according to the Times.
Trump’s conversation with the two witnesses “most likely did not rise to the level of witnesses tampering,” according to the Times, but it did gather Mueller’s attention.
