Trump Was Angry Over The Glowing Coverage Of Sen. McCain, So He Did The Most Disgraceful Thing
President Donald Trump, who just finished having an extraordinarily bad week, sank to a new level by deciding to downplay Sen. John McCain’s death over TV ratings.
That’s right. According to the Wall Street Journal, Trump nixed a White House statement praising the late war hero and chose not to lower the U.S. flag to half-staff for hours on Monday because he was angry about the glowing coverage of Sen. McCain.
“Mr. Trump resisted, and viewed the news coverage of the former senator’s death as over-the-top and more befitting a president, according to people familiar with the situation,” the Journal reported.
Trump eventually caved and issued a proclamation ordering the flag to be lowered to half-staff and released a short statement praising Sen. McCain.
