Trump’s Lawyers Don’t Want Him To Testify Because ‘He’ll Say Something He Shouldn’t’: Ex-Intel Chairman
Donald Trump’s lawyers are doing what they can to keep him from testifying in front of special counsel Robert Mueller because they are afraid he’ll “say something he shouldn’t,” according to former House Intelligence Committee chairman Rep. Mike Rogers (R-MI).
Rogers, appearing on CNN, was asked by host Jake Tapper if Trump should testify.
“If you’re advising the president legally, I would say absolutely not,” Rogers said. “He’s likely to say something he shouldn’t say and get in trouble.”
But, the former chairman advised that Trump should testify “for the good of the American public.”
Trump announced last week that he was “looking forward” to his meeting with the special counsel, but that statement was contradicted when his lawyer came out and said otherwise.
News also broke out that Trump ordered the firing of Mueller in the Summer but stopped after his lawyer threatened to quit.
This week, it was also reported that Trump’s longtime adviser Hope Hicks allegedly advised Donald Trump, Jr. to destroy emails about his Trump Tower meeting with a group of Kremlin-linked individuals in the summer of 2016.
